Peter Holmes Signed Scottish Borders Art Glass Vase, 2015
This striking vase was handmade and signed by Peter Holmes in 2015, during his time at Scottish Borders Art Glass. Crafted in Scotland using traditional studio glass techniques, the piece showcases a rich palette of earthy greys, warm browns, and amethyst tones. Flecks of golden copper aventurine shimmer through the surface, giving it a subtle metallic glint that catches beautifully in the light. The interior is cased in a pale, almost white glass, which adds depth and contrast to the overall form.
Peter Holmes is one of Scotland’s most respected glass artists, with a career spanning more than five decades. He trained under Paul Ysart at Caithness Glass, co-founded Selkirk Glass, and later established Scottish Borders Art Glass with his son. His work is known for its bold use of colour, cosmic influences, and strong ties to the Scottish landscape.
A wonderful example of Holmes’s distinctive style, this is a signed and dated piece that reflects the rich heritage of Scottish studio glass.
